Yes, You Know the Face: Charles Lane

Published by jorty at 6:01 am under classic TV Edit This

Charles LaneIt’s hard to believe it’s been  one year since my all time favorite character actor, Charles Lane, died of natural causes. Lane was born in 2005 and died on July 9, 2007, at the age of 102.

You know who Lane is, even if you don’t recognize the name.  Best known as Homer Bledsoe on the old Petticoat Junction TV series, Lane also guest starred on just about every popular show in the  1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s, including I Love Lucy,  Bewitched,  the Beverly Hillbilles and Dennis the Menace.  And he was a popular face in hundreds of movies, including  It’ a Wonderful Life and It’s a Mad Mad Mad World.

A documentary of his extraordinary life, titled “You Know the Face” is in the works. It should be a fitting tribute to one of Hollywood’s most prolific and recognizable character actors.
