Popcultured Classic Episode: The One Where Ross Got High
Thanksgiving was always a big holiday on the long-running sitcom, Friends . The series featured 9 Thanksgiving episodes, playing on ongoing themes, such as Chandler’s loathing of the holiday.
In “the One Where Ross Got High”, Monica prepares Thanksgiving dinner for the whole gang-except for the dessert, which Rachel is making. Monica and Ross’s parents, the Gellar’s, also join the gang fro dinner, and Chandler finds out that Monica’s parents don’t like him. Why? Well it turns out that years ago Ross had been smoking marijuana in his room and when his parents smelled it he said that Chandler had been smoking it. A funny he said-she said exchange goes on.
The episode’s other storyline features Rachel’s disastrous attempt at making an English trifle. She puts meat in it. Why? Well, as the gang later discovers, 2 pages of the cookbook that she was using were stuck together. So Rachel actually made part trifle and part Shepherd’s pie!
