I never knew much about the TV series Dragnet, but I always like a good Christmas episode. I caught this episode one year during a Christmas episode marathon ( I think it was on Nickelodeon or TVLand). I originally saw the 1967 version of Dragnet’s “The Christmas Story”. This was actually a remake of a 1953  Dragnet episode, called “The Big Little Jesus”,  and it is the exact same story, just with a  few cast changes.

Most notably is the addition of Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady on “The Brady Bunch”- Barry is seen in the 1967 version as an altar boy who is questioned about  a Baby Jesus statue that is missing from the church nativity scene.

The ending of this Christmas episode is touching. Watch both versions if you can. Last time I checked, you could view the 1967 version on hulu.com.
