Happy Birthday! That’s the first thing Frosty the Snowman says when he comes to life.

The Rankin- Bass animated Christmas special “Frosty the Snowman” has been delighting children of all ages since 1969.

Based on the Gene Autry song from 1950, “Frosty the Snowman” is about a snowman that comes to life when he puts on a magician’s hat.  He has lots of fun playing with the kids in the school yard, and he even goes on an adventure to the North Pole so he won’t melt. But soon it’s time to lose the hat- which means Frosty has to go, too.

He promises the sad children “I’ll be back again someday”.

And he does come back—every year.
