Popcultured Classic Episode: Job Switching
In January 2009, the classic sitcom “I Love Lucy” will no longer air on TV Land. I’d be somewhat distressed over this, but luckily The Hallmark Channel is picking it up. I have cable, so I don’t care what channel airs it, just that it’s still on. “I Love Lucy” has been on the air somewhere since 1951.
One of the most well-known episodes of “I Love Lucy” is the 1952 episode called “Job Switching”. This episode features the famous scene where Lucy and Ethel work at a candy factory. Did you know the candy maker who works with Lucy in that scene (and subsequently throws chocolate in her face) was not an actress but a real candy maker from See’s Candies? The producers of “I Love Lucy” were known for their attention to detail and they wanted to get the chocolate-dipping scene just right!
